We
are all aware of the subjugated environment in today’s world: the
reprehensible war on Iraq, the genocide in Sudan and other crimes to humanity,
poverty, global warming, and merciless environmental destruction. It’s
through unification and the voicing of our concerns, TOGETHER, that we
can begin to change the state of affairs.

Hi,
welcome, my name is Sue Crossen.
I
would guess that you have come to this website for the same reason that
compels me to write it and to embark on this crusade. We all have heard and read enough pieces of the truth, that aren’t always reported by the mainstream media, to know that we are in serious peril. According to many scientists
(even Dr George Wald, a Nobel Laureate), the earth, because of pollution
and environmental degradation, may have as little as 100 years left to
support life.
It’s going to take the uniting of people to save each other and
this planet as a whole. Because we have never been faced with the overwhelming
magnitude of atrocities that we now see before us, we must have a way
to join our forces and get the truth out to the masses.
As Abraham Lincoln so eloquently put it:
I am a firm believer
in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any
national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts.
Thus, out of this concept, unitetogether.com was inspired.
As we witnessed in the outpouring of support for the Tsunami and Katrina
victims, and from polls taken about people’s views on environmental
preservation, people are compassionate and care deeply about others and their natural surroundings. But until they have the truth, governments themselves and the embedding of governments with corporations—including state-owned and corporate-owned media—will continue to keep many people in complete darkness, oblivious to
the truth. The result is—and continues
to be—untold worldwide corruption and destruction for people, animals,
and the environment as a whole.
For instance, most people are not aware of crucial facts like these:
• According to the World Health Organization, global warming was responsible
for 150,000 deaths last year. And the last 15 years have been the warmest
in 2000 years.
• 1300 top scientists from 95 countries issued a report called “The Millennium
Ecosystem Assessment.” In it, they reported that by 2050, if there are
no major changes in the way humans consume natural resources, the consequences
will be extreme: massive famine, epidemics that will spread across the
planet, horrendous storms, severe shortages of clean water, sewage-laden
cities, etc.
• As recently as a year and a half ago, a Harris poll revealed that 37%
of Americans still believe that many of the hijackers from 9/11 were from
Iraq and 41% of Americans believed that Saddam helped and supported them.
• Many people will not be able to afford heat this winter, while oil companies
are experiencing windfall profits up as much as 75%.
• The Roadless Area Conservation Rule, which protects 58.5 million acres
of pristine, untouched U.S. forests, has been repealed, opening this land
to loggers, miners, developers etc. This is only one of countless environmental
policies that has been recently and recklessly withdrawn.
I deeply appreciate your looking into this crusade. I can’t do it alone.
But together, united, we can! I’ve always been a philanthropist and an
environmentalist. Yet I realize that in today’s environment, the only
way to keep myself from dropping into deep despair is by starting something
like unitetogether.com
My hope and prayer is that people by the thousands, and hopefully one
day by the millions, will display the
unitetogether.com symbol* on their
cars via magnets and flags, on their t-shirts—everywhere. And, that this
will inspire millions of others around the world to get online and read
this website. Here they will be able to see for themselves the facts,
find links to more of the heart-wrenching atrocities being committed,
and, most importantly, take action to prevent them.
It is time that people throughout the world lay down their weapons and
embrace one another. The hour is late, and we must work together to save
our planet and ourselves.
Have we not come to such an impasse
in the modern world that we must love our enemies - or else? The chain
reaction of evil - hate begetting hate, wars producing more wars - must
be broken, or else we shall be plunged into the dark abyss of annihilation.
Martin Luther King, Jr.
The
truth is violated by falsehood but outraged by silence.
Old adage
The hope of a secure and
livable world lies with disciplined nonconformists who are
dedicated to justice, peace and brotherhood.
Martin Luther King, Jr.
There are solutions out there: Solutions where everyone and
everything wins. It’s called balance. But we are vastly out
of balance. The pendulum has swung dangerously far to one
side, so far that many scientists and others state we’re not
at the 11th hour anymore; we’re at two minutes until
midnight. Yet again, until people are aware of the truth,
all of mankind and animal-kind, not to mention our natural
environment as a whole, are in serious peril.
During times of universal deceit,
telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act.
George Orwell
I’ve always been bewildered as to why people can’t just get
along. We have so much to share: Our foods, dances, music,
and our wonderful cultures in general. It’s about love!
As Martin Luther King, Jr. so beautifully put it:
I
believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have
the final word in reality.
And, from the deepest recesses of my
heart, I adore animals and love nature. When I walk in the woods, climb
a snow topped mountain, or watch a doe gracefully nibbling leaves off
a tree, it is then that I know there is a greater power in this universe—whether
one call it love, God, or what have you.
This earth is a most forgiving host. But even this resilient planet can
be pushed beyond the point of return. Scientists are warning us that it’s
time we’d better heed this omen. By recklessly and dangerously destroying
the earth’s gracious gifts, we are surely digging our own graves. Read
environmental reports via the websites on our links page.
God has cared for these trees, saved them from
drought, disease,
avalanches, and a thousand tempests and floods. But he cannot save them from fools.
John
Muir
Non-violence leads to the highest ethics, which is the goal
of all evolution.
Until we stop harming all other living beings, we are still savages.
Thomas A. Edison
Only when
the last tree has died and the last river been poisoned and the last fish been caught will we realize that we cannot
eat money.
Cree
Indian saying
We must unite. Again, my prayer is that by displaying
our
unitetogether.com symbol,
we can begin healing this planet and ourselves. Together we can exhibit
our compassion and demonstrate to the world that we are united in love,
united in peace, united in environmental preservation.
In Conclusion:
This liaison has formed on the basis and the known fact that
there are vast numbers of committed individuals, groups, and
organizations devoted to the noble idea that the possibility
and the responsibility to change the world is up to each and
every one of us. And yet alone, with the daunting obstacles
that stand before us in today’s world, it’s crucially
evident that now, more than ever, people must solidly unite
in their firm and resolute demand for change. It is our
heartfelt and steadfast belief that through the power of
unity, we can create a bright tomorrow from the tears of
today. It is our goal to bring people together, like never
before, in an unwavering quest for humanitarian rights,
environmental preservation, and for peace.
I
like to believe that people in the long run are going to do
more to promote peace than our governments. Indeed,
I think that people want peace so much that one of these
days governments had better get out of the way and let them have it.
Dwight D. Eisenhower
Nothing could be worse than the fear that one had given up
too soon and
left one unexpended effort which might have saved the world.
